What is a facial self-massage for?

A facial self-massage is a massage technique that is performed manually on the face and neck area, in different areas and with specific movements. If you wish to amplify the function of the facial self-massage, it can be accompanied by cosmetic products that are absorbed in an appropriate way.

How to perform a facial self-massage

Here are the steps to perform a relaxing facial self-massage or a face lifting massage:

  • Remove make-up from your face

Choose the best make-up remover that suits your skin and remove make-up before proceeding with the massage.

  • Warm up your muscles and apply a facial oil or serum

Gesture exaggeratedly for one minute (move your lips, close your eyes tightly, arch your eyebrows…).  Then, apply a face serum or face oil in the palm of your hands and apply the product on cheeks, forehead, chin and neck with gentle movements.

From Mediterranean Spirit we encourage you to use our moisturising face serum when you perform the facial self-massage. Its natural Mediterranean active ingredients will effectively penetrate your skin, moisturising it and giving it a great luminosity.

  • Massage the cheeks

With your index and middle finger, push your cheeks up and down without using too much force. This will fight against sagging and loss of smoothness and strengthen the tone of the cheeks. Repeat this 5 times.

  • Massage your eyes

Now continue with the eyebrow and eye area. Use your index finger and thumb to pull your eyebrows, hold for about 10 seconds and repeat 10 times to avoid drooping eyelids. Then you can gently squeeze the eyelid area and massage more gently, do this for 5 seconds and repeat 10 times. Massage the upper eyelids, but always on the brow bone, on the eyebrows, not on top of the soft area.

  • Massage between the eyebrows, temples and forehead

Massage in a circular motion for at least 3 minutes with your index finger, first between the eyebrows and then on each side of the temples.

  • Massage the neck and collarbone

You should stretch your neck, and massage it intensely with undulating movements to stimulate blood circulation. This way you can eliminate jowls and define the jawline.

Remember that face skin is sensitive, so you should massage gently without using too much force and exerting minimal pressure with your fingers.

If you want to have a firming facial massage, a lymphatic facial massage, you already have some techniques that you can put into practice. Some people also prefer to use a face massager in addition to using their hands.

After the DIY facial massage we also recommend you to use our anti-wrinkle moisturising face cream which contains the best natural Mediterranean ingredients and is enriched with retinol and hyaluronic acid, you will notice a rejuvenated and juicy skin.

There are also other facial massage techniques such as kobido massage or kobido facial self-massage which combines facial massage with lymphatic drainage and acupressure. This Japanese facelift is ideal as an anti-stress massage.
