Marigold is an aromatic Mediterranean plant with an intense orange colour that was already used by the Greeks and Romans to cure illnesses or diseases and was considered a miracle plant by the Egyptians. If you want to know more about it, we encourage you to keep reading this blog!
Marigold is a plant that has ornamental, alimentary and medicinal uses. It has a fairly wide stem and its leaves are an elixir of minerals and vitamins. Due to its soothing, softening and emollient properties, it is widely used in baby products, especially creams indicated for atopic dermatitis that relieve diaper/nappy rash and irritation.
Marigold is also widely used in the treatment of ulcers or varicose veins because of its great anti-inflammatory power and in insect bites, blisters and scratches because it’s anti-infectious. It also fights fungal infections such as athlete’s foot and mycosis on hands and feet and has been traditionally used to remove warts.
In addition to all these uses and benefits, this delicate-looking plant is widely used in the world of cosmetics and beauty, especially to tone up the skin and make it look younger and more elastic. It is very easy to find this ingredient in soaps and facial creams.
Marigold heals the skin without leaving scars as it activates the production of collagen and glycoproteins. Remember that marigold is antiseptic, antibacterial, fungicidal, anti-inflammatory, soothing, protective, repairing and healing.
Marigold is also very moisturizing, nutritious and combined with hyaluronic acid, it has a very effective anti-aging effect. This is the case with our anti-ageing moisturizing face cream and you will notice that your face looks more luminous, smooth and hydrated. Remember that marigold is very rich in vitamin E or tocopherol, carotenes that provide vitamin A and flavonoids that strengthen the skin against external aggressions in addition to having a great antioxidant and anti-aging power.
Marigold is especially indicated for skin with dermatological alterations such as psoriasis or acne and also for cracked lips, hands and feet, not very severe burns, dry lips, very sensitive, delicate, dry skin or skin that has been very exposed to the sun. Marigold extract or oil is usually applied after depilation or exfoliation as it soothes redness, irritation, inflammation and relaxes.
At Mediterranean Spirit we use marigold extract in the anti-ageing moisturizing facial cream and in the 4 in 1 facial cleansing gel. You can find it under the name of Calendula Officinalis Flower Extract in the INCI (product ingredients). We assure you that if you use them in your daily facial routine, you will be surprised with the results on your skin.
